nova media introduces WiFi router with embedded quadband 3G

Germany, July 19 -- Berlin based nova media today unveiled GlobeSurfer III+, a wireless router with quadband 3G support build by the Belgium company Option. GlobeSurfer III+ just needs a SIM card to operate and offers a WiFi hotspot for up to 256 clients within minutes. The router supports download speeds with up to 14.4 Mbit/s and upload speeds with up to 5.76 Mbit/s in most 3G networks around the globe.

"The Router uses a webinterface for configuration and offers a setup wizard for an easy start.", states Jan Fuellemann, PR spokesperson at nova media. "The web user interface has been split into two sections; the main section for users who require basic features such as Telephone, Quick Set-Up and Security, the other section is for the IT administrator who needs sophisticated and advanced functions. WiFi access can be switched off completely and Ethernet access is always available."

The advanced functions of the GlobeSurfer III+ include VPN support, DynDNS support, DMZ-Host support, and much more. GlobeSurfer III+ supports DSL failover. So every time a DSL line fails to operate, the router can automatically switch to a mobile connection and switch back once the DSL line becomes available again.

The built-in USB 2.0 port supports file and printer sharing throughout the local network. A standard telephone can be hooked up to the router to make and receive calls and an external antenna can be connected to the GlobeSurfer III+ to boost the signal strength.

GlobeSurfer III+ is an unlocked device. It is possibile to use SIM cards from most mobile networks, inlcuding prepaid offers. Any user of the router can thus avoid high roaming fees when travelling abroad. Text messages can be send, received and managed by the web interface of the router.

For 3G connections, the GlobeSurfer III+ operates within the 850/900/1900/2100 MHz bands. For EDGE/GPRS connections, the 850/900/1800/1900 MHz bands are supported.
