First worldwide Macintosh support for UMTS connections

Berlin, 30th of April 2004 - nova media today unveiled Mobile High Speed 3G, the first Mac OS software to support online connections using the UMTS protocol.

UMTS is currently available in Europe and allows significant higher upload and download rates. Depending on the device and the load of the network, download speeds up to 384 kbit/s and upload speeds up to 64 kbit/s are supported.

In close cooperation with Vodafone Group, the world’s leading mobile operator, Mobile High Speed 3G adds supports for Vodafone’s Mobile Connect Card 3G/GPRS dataCard  for UMTS connections in all Vodafone UMTS networks. In addition, Novatel Merlin UMTS Card and Siemens U15 as well as Motorola A835, Samsung SGH-Z100, SGH-Z105 Cell phones are supported as well.

Mobile High Speed completes the set-up of Mac OS X for an UMTS, EDGE or GPRS connection by creating a new location with all connection details already in place, freeing the user of from the need to enter entering INIT strings, APN numbers, user names, and passwords or from time consuming searches for modem scripts in the Internet.

Edition 3G of Mobile High Speed for Mac OS X includes more than 200 network settings for most mobile network carriers worldwide and supports more than 87 phones and datacards. Mobile High Speed is available for download at http://www.novamedia.de for 91.50 US-$ plus VAT (Euro 75,- plus VAT).
