3G UMTS has arrived for Palm OS

Berlin, Germany, May 10th -- nova media MDS GmbH unveiled Mobile High Speed Version 5.3 with extensive support for 3G UMTS networks and compatible phones from Motorola, Nokia and SonyEricsson.

Mobile High Speed for Palm OS supports more than 100 3G UMTS, EDGE and GPRS settings to connect with major networks worldwide and will configure a Palm OS 4.x or 5.x device to go online in seconds using an attached cell phone as a modem or a Treo Samrtphone. An integrated Bluetooth pairing wizard helps to easily connect a Bluetooth enabled phone with a Palm OS Device.

"For the first time, a Palm OS user can easily set up and use a 3G UMTS connection to achive much higher download and upload rates", states Jan Fuellemann, PR spokesman at nova media. "If no 3G UMTS service is available, Mobile High Speed will us an EDGE or GPRS connection instead."

The procedure is simple: After downloading the software to your Palm OS Device, all there is to do is to choose the cell phone, network operator and connection speed. Based on this selection the intelligent software will configure the Palm OS Device automatically. Pressing the “connect” button is all that is required to establish an Internet connection.

Mobile High Speed includes telephone drivers for many Cell phones as well. Telephone drivers are needed to send and receive SMS messages with the integrated SMS program of the Palm OS Handheld and to tap-dial a number in the address book to be dialed instantly by the cell phone.

Mobile High Speed 5.3 for Palm OS is compatible with all Palm OS Handhelds running Palm OS 4.x and 5.x including Treo Smartphones, except Palm Tungsten W and Sony Clié TG50.
